The 2009 British Enduro Championship kicked off at its usual venue
of Thetford Forest in Suffolk at the weekend. The conditions couldn't
have been more perfect with unusually warm weather for February.
This
was Chris's first outing on the new Yamaha WR250F and with very
little time to prepare for the start of the season 5th in class and
11th overall out of 31 very fast championship class riders isn't bad

David Knight returned to the Metzler ACU British Enduro Championship
this weekend with a win for BMW in unseasonably mild, early spring
weather. Diss MCCs EMG Motor Group sponsored Muntjac Enduro attracted a full entry 236 riders who
were rewarded with a 23 mile lap in perfect condition. Knighter took the
win from MPS Husqvarna's Simon Wakely in 2nd place by less than 3.2
seconds. Following Winter
training in Spain, Simon reveled in the warm, sandy conditions. After
good results in the extreme Tough One & Hells Gate, Tom Sagar
unleashed his new 450 Husaberg to take 3rd. Reports

2009. Following last years sweltering event near Llanllwni, this year's
should be a bit cooler but tighter with the majority of the 6 mile route
being a reversal of last year's. Riders can expect to find more twisty
going in the trees and of course the infamous hill, though used

- Details XMOOR ENDURO CLUB YOUTH ENTRIES ONLY £8.00! Xmoor Enduro Club are pleased to announce their four round, long
course hare and hound enduro series for 2009. For an entry fee of £35
adult riders will be given the chance to ride four of the best venues in
the South West offering a wide variety of terrain and surfaces. As
always there will be shorter 'expert' routes within the lap (usually 7 -
9 miles in total) but the course will be suitable for all abilities. In
an effort to encourage younger riders this year, the club, run entirely
by volunteers and not for profit, have generously decided to charge only
£8.00 per youth (11 to 16 years) entry. The youngsters will ride a
shorter, less challenging lap which should take 10 - 15 minutes to
complete so parents will have regular sight of their riders. In addition
to the low entry fee, each youth finisher will receive a medal and there
will be trophies for the first three in each class. As many 2008 adult
trophies remain unclaimed, the club have decided to replace them with an
end of year cash prize fund which will go to the top five places in each

New Youth Class For rideoffroaduk
March 22nd 2009 sees the rideoffroaduk Hare & Hounds Championship
kick back into life at the fantastic Low North Camp at Harwood Dale in
North Yorkshire. With round 3 of the winter series now on hold until a
much needed break in the weather helps venues recover to some thing like
ride-able, the focus is now firmly set on Harwood Dale in March. Details

first event in March. Problems at the ACU meant that they have only now
had the time to issue our permits. Regs can be downloaded from this
site. Regs will not be in this month's Sporting Motorcyclist due to this

Tom makes the Magnificent Seven
The scenic Italian mountains, -3.5 degrees and 7am sets the scene for
the most physically challenging enduro, Hells Gate. Based at the four
star hotel Il Ciocco, the mountain in the garden became a 10 hour
playing ground. The event took the format of a five hour enduro in the
morning as a qualifying race then the main race in the afternoon as a
four hour hare and hounds extreme style, in order for riders to finish
Hells Gate they must be within 30 minutes of the leader or you are
pulled out of the event at check points. Full

Matt Ridgway wins at
Bicton
A new venue greeted riders for the second round of the Putoline XC
Championship last Sunday and looks to become a popular place to return
to over the coming season.
Despite the horrendous wet weather over the past few weeks,
compounded by thawing snow, the course was in good shape but many riders
hearts sank when they realised they had to be towed onto the paddock.
Good organisation by Fast Eddy and the landowners saw no dramas and
everything went like clockwork as two tractors got everyone on and off
the grassy paddock.Report
