SCEC Pallington Forest
Report by SCEC
Images by Nick Guppy & Tim Brewer
The final event in the 2009 SCEC calendar took place at the end of the
wettest November on record, and is if that wasn’t bad enough so much rain
fell Saturday evening that the roads leading to the venue were flooded for the
first time in human memory!
You can’t beat the weather but SCEC have been in this game a long time
and had taken all the precautions they sensibly could to ensure that the rain
wouldn’t spoil the day. The venue, parking arrangements and route were very
carefully planned and rear Trials tyres were specified to reduce rutting to a
minimum. That (together with a little luck!) resulted in a thoroughly ridable
& enjoyable event, not an easy one maybe, but not crazy hard either and
most of the competitors made it through to the end. Report

Ride-XC TRC Westwood XC Challenge
The Biffster takes first blood in the TRC Westwood XC
Challenge
The Ride xc team came up with a gem of a venue for the 1st round of the
TRC truck rental challenge with the Barnsley based TRC Westwood , despite
heavy rain over the preceding weeks the venue stood up well and provided a
firm base as the course meandered around the woodland , slippery in places
but thoroughly ride able, with its bomb holes ,quarry, woodland and mx
track the course had something for everyone. The event was full with a
week to go, which is a rare thing these days. So on a cold and wet late
November Sunday morning the riders lined up for the 10 am start Full

 2009 NATIONAL HEWITT XC CHAMPIONSHIP
FINAL ROUND HELD AT DITTERIDGE ON
SUNDAY,22ND NOVEMBER AND PROMOTED BY THE MIDWEST MCC
REPORT AND PICS BY MIKE
WOOD
With ground conditions already saturated and yet more rain expected,
most riders entered for the final round of the Hewitt National XC
Championship probably expected to instead have a day off and endure
taking the wife/girlfriend shopping!!. Not so though, as the organising
Midwest MCC again displayed their determination to keep the punters
happy by deciding to go ahead with the event. Held at a new venue at
Ditteridge in Wiltshire and taking into account the very wet going,
Midwest thoughtfully went about plotting a four mile circuit which was
to cater for riders of all abilities. The careful planning enabled a
majority of the entry to not only complete the three hour marathon but
also enjoy a good old day of mud plugging, the only problem spot being a
climb out of a wooded section which with the event reaching the one hour
mark had to be cut out. This decision was to actually prove to be
pivotal in the outcome of the Expert contest eventually won by Darren
Wheeler but more of that later!!. Full

Norrie wins the First Round of the Scottish Hare and Hound Championship
The Bon Accord Club worked wonders to run the first round of the
Scottish Hare and Hound Championship on Netherley Moor on Sunday the 22nd
November. With only weeks to go their previous location was withdrawn and
the crew had to find another venue. Netherley Moor was looking good but
with torrential rain from the Friday until just before the start of the
race the event it became hard work for everyone from the riders and their
assistants to the organisers. The course was run through the heather with
soft ground beneath although there was enough grip to keep most riders
moving if they kept their momentum going. Details

The Melville Motocross series lived up to its reputation once more for
200 riders at Lochhouses farm near Dunbar in East Lothian on Sunday. All
the adult classes were full long before the closing date and 50 more were
too late to make the grid as there is limited daylight at this time of
